Hits Kennedy Edge Leaving In Brewers

Baseball Betting Lines

Ready to take the hill for the visiting Diamondbacks this afternoon is Ian Kennedy who has emerged as one of the surprise hurlers in the NL for the first half of the season. Kennedy, who is in his second season with Arizona and his fifth in the majors overall, is sporting an impressive 8-2 record in 2011 after putting up a 9-10 mark a year ago.

Oakland, which is just 7-10 in interleague play this season, has the fewest home runs of any team in the majors entering play on Sunday, having generated a mere 43 long balls over 84 games. The A's have thrilled the hometown fans with just 20 home runs in 40 games thus far.

In contrast Arizona, which is 10-7 versus the AL, is the top home run hitting team in the NL with 94 long balls in 84 games. The Diamondbacks are also tied for third in the majors with 20 triples, providing them with the fifth-highest slugging percentage in the majors (.418).

Ryan Braun and Prince Fielder added doubles for the Brewers. Braun's hit pushed his hitting streak to a career-high 22 games and tied him with Cecil Cooper and Corey Hart for the third-longest streak in franchise history.

Fielder continues to lead the NL in RBI with 69 and is tied for second in the league with 21 home runs, yet he's delivered just one long ball in his last 10 games and only one RBI in the last five.

Carl Pavano kept the Twins on top as he permitted just four runs on eight hits, striking out four, through 7 2/3 innings. Unfortunately the bullpen, specifically Matt Capps, was unable to bring home the win for their starter. Capps recorded only two outs but surrendered four runs on five hits as he absorbed his fourth loss of 2011.

The eight-year veteran was stomped on Tuesday by New York as the Yankees recorded seven runs on just five hits and three walks in two innings. Greinke, who surrendered eight runs, yet struck out 10 in 5 1/3 innings versus the Chicago Cubs 12 days earlier, failed to fan a single batter in the 12-2 loss to the Bronx Bombers. He also hit a batter and was charged with a wild pitch versus the Yankees.

As for the Twins, they'll be leaning on Nick Blackburn to get them through today at Target Field. The right-hander, just 1-2 with a 6.46 ERA in four career games versus Milwaukee, has dropped two straight outings, the most recent of which was a 15-0 thrashing by LA on Monday.

Minnesota, which is now 11 games below .500 and nine games off the pace in the American League Central, is trailing in the season series with the Brewers by a count of 4-1 and is now just 7-10 in interleague play this year. Milwaukee is showing a 6-8 mark versus the AL this season.

Wilson Betemit delivered a three-run homer and Alex Gordon posted a solo blast among his four hits, two RBI and two runs scored for the Royals in yesterday's outing, yet the squad still lost for the 11th time in 13 outings.

MySportsbook.com favors Bears, Bengals, Chargers and Colts to remain perfect

LAS VEGAS , Sept. 28 - Two big match-ups of undefeated teams have fans salivating at the Week Four schedule in the NFL. The Chicago Bears stifling defense looks to provide a less than hospitable welcome to the Seattle Seahawks on Sunday night in a battle of two 3-0 teams in the NFC conference. In the AFC, the San Diego Chargers (2-0) head to Maryland to face the surprising Baltimore Ravens (3-0) as both try to keep pace atop the conference standings. Betting Lines makers at MySportsbook.com, online sportsbook and casino, have set the Bears as 3.5 point favorites while the Chargers are a 2.5 point bet.

Of the three remaining undefeated teams, only one, New Orleans, enters this week's game as an underdog. Despite an emotional and resounding win over Atlanta on Monday night, the Saints are a 7.5 point underdog against the struggling Carolina Panthers. Indianapolis looks to stay perfect when they face the New York Jets as a 9 point road favorite while the Cincinnati Bengals are a 6 point favorite at home to the New England Patriots.

Six teams enter the week still looking for their first win, with a seventh, Tampa Bay, on a bye week. The prospect of dropping another game would not bode well for a potential playoff run. Since 1990, just three teams -- the 1992 Chargers, 1995 Detroit Lions and 1998 Buffalo Bills -- have overcome losing their first three games of the season to earn a postseason berth. And only the Chargers managed to accomplish the feat after starting 0-4.
